Bob is out in the shipping room peeling and sticking address labels to our Fall 2011 catalog today. The books came into the office last Friday and so the mailing list was printed yesterday. We will be mailing them out in 4 or 5 batches, the first ones to go to the post office will be for the east coast, then we work our way west. Depending on your area, it can take anywhere from 4 to 14 days for the post office to deliver them and we try to time it so everyone has their copy about the same time.
The lily ‘Eudoxia’ is on the front cover and we have been getting feedback on its great performance in the Midwest and in the Eastern States despite the odd weather everywhere. There are no blooms on the home farm as yet, the weather has been rather cold and rainy all spring throughout the end of June. As of today, Dianna still has herbaceous peonies and a few late Rhodies blooming. The cabbages look great, but the cucumbers are anemic from all the moisture and cold nights. The lilies planted here are still green and pretty much all in tight bud, the ones in the Oregon field are coming into full bloom, but just as soon as we confirm they are correctly marked the flowers are removed to move all energy into producing a larger sized bulb at harvest.
(Generic pink herbaceous peony on July 1, 2011)
Within the next 3 or 4 weeks, our main website will be upgraded with a new look and faster navigation. We are adding easy button links that are large enough to see without increasing the screen size, upgrading the product pages and adding a weekly "Timely Tip". Our other two websites, www.lilybulb.com and www.abbeehat.com will stay simple for the fastest mobile browsing.
